More of Us

Projects   •   Teesa Bahana

Teesa Bahana, director of 32°East Ugandan Arts Trust, initiated a collaboration between BRUISE Magazine and the More of Us collective. This collaboration is a series of essays and illustrations reflecting on solidarity, exchange and collective action, values that are at the heart of Triangle – Astérides.

The team behind More of Us covers a lot of geographical ground. Members from Mexico, Indonesia, Colombia, the DRC, South Africa and Uganda came together through the Arts Collaboratory network, inspired by the idea of a publication that shares culture, critique and creativity from the global South to shift perspectives, deepen understanding, and inspire people towards collective action. Through art, essay, and imagery, from Kyrgyzstan to Costa Rica, More of Us showcases critical voices providing insight into topical issues. This collaboration with Bruise complements their very first edition inspired by the theme of Solidarity, that will launch in February. They eventually plan to publish quarterly and will include artist commissions, opinion pieces and critical analysis around arts and culture, and politics and society in the Global South.
